What Is Catan?
Catan involves constant resource trading between players, development card purchases from the bank, and victory point tracking. Managing all these transactions manually — especially when trades get complex ("I'll give you 2 wheat for 1 ore... actually, throw in a sheep") — creates confusion. PartyPot acts as the digital bank, tracking every trade, purchase, and point change so players can focus on strategy instead of bookkeeping.
How to Play Catan
Set up the Catan board with hexagonal terrain tiles
Players place initial settlements and roads during setup
On each turn: roll dice → collect resources → trade → build
Trading: players negotiate freely, or trade 4:1 (or better) with the bank
Build roads, settlements, cities, and development cards using resources
First player to reach 10 victory points wins
How PartyPot Makes Catan Better
Track bank transactions for development card purchases and 4:1 trades
Log player-to-player trades with full history
Victory point tracking across the session
For money-stakes Catan: track bets and Smart Settlement at game end
Works for expansions (Seafarers, Cities & Knights) too
