To settle up after a home poker game, work out each player's net result (cash-out minus total buy-in), then make the smallest set of payments that clears every balance — losers pay winners. This free calculator does it for you: enter each player's buy-ins and cash-out and it returns the minimum number of transfers, often cutting a 6-player game from up to 15 possible payments down to 3 or 4.

How the settle-up math works

  1. 1. Net each player. Net = cash-out − total buy-in. A player who bought in for $100 and cashed out $65 is down $35.
  2. 2. Split into winners and losers. Winners are owed money; losers owe money. The two sides always add up to zero in a real game.
  3. 3. Match biggest to biggest. The biggest loser pays the biggest winner the smaller of the two amounts. That payment fully settles at least one person, so they drop out.
  4. 4. Repeat until everyone is clear. This keeps the number of payments near the minimum — instead of everyone Venmo-ing everyone.

A lot of groups settle through one person — everyone pays the biggest winner, who then pays the other winners. Flip the Pay one banker toggle for exactly that (one transaction per person), or keep Fewest payments to minimise the total number of transfers. The Round to option clears the awkward cents so every payment lands on a whole $1 or $5.

Track it live, settle in one tap

This calculator settles up after the game. The free PartyPot app does it during the game: every buy-in, rebuy and pot is tracked in real time on each player's phone, and Smart Settlement produces the same minimum-transfer result the moment you finish — no spreadsheet, no arguments. It's a bookkeeping tool, not a gambling app: no real money is wagered or held.

Poker settle-up FAQ

How do you settle up after a home poker game?
Net each player (cash-out minus total buy-in), then make the smallest set of payments that clears every balance — losers pay winners. This calculator finds the minimum number of transfers automatically.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Completely free, no sign-up, no download — it runs entirely in your browser and nothing leaves your device. For live tracking during the game, the free PartyPot app does the same settlement in one tap.
Is a poker settle-up calculator a gambling app?
No. It only does the arithmetic of who owes who after the game. It does not take bets, hold money, or move funds — you settle directly between players using whatever method you like.
Can I use it for mahjong, blackjack, or board games?
Yes — any buy-in / cash-out game settles the same way. For point-based mahjong, use the dedicated mahjong payout calculator.
